“Colossus” can refer to a few different steam locomotives, most notably a 15″ gauge Bassett-Lowke tender engine built in 1913 for the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway that was later scrapped. There is also a project underway to build a new 15″ gauge “Colossus” locomotive from original drawings. The name has also been applied to other, unrelated steam engines, including a British Rail Class 47 diesel-electric locomotive that was used for parts and a McLaren road locomotive.
