When the London Eye opened to the public in 2000, it was the world’s tallest ferris wheel. Also known as the Millennium Wheel, it stands on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, and attracts over 3 million visitors per year. Standing 135 metres high, and with a diameter of 120 metres, the London Eye relies on a cantilever support mechanism.
This kit provides 5 sheets of precision etched stainless steel parts to build a beautifully detailed model of the London Eye, which will provide hours of pleasure during construction and afterwards, as you enjoy the detail of the finished model.

This is large 66% larger than the other version in fact. It is also painted and has more detail, the instructions, metal and paint are up to Piececools normal high standard. It was a fun build and I like the finished model, two tips.
1/ When you cut out the four pieces that make up the centre of the wheel one of the points is badly placed in the centre of the piece which runs on the centre post. Make sure you file it down so it is flush otherwise it will catch and the wheel wont turn.
2/ When putting the gondolas together the instructions say to shape them then attach them to the square base. I found it much easier to attach the flat piece to the base first and then shape it.

This is the larger version and lives up to its title. Adding a good edition to my collection of landmark models and sits at the centre of attention between ‘Big Ben’ and ‘Tower Bridge’ models. A nice build to complete and what I liked about this is that it isn’t just one of the silver models, there are little pops of colour which draws your eye to the model and the fine attention to detail, giving it that little bit more. As always a very high standard of product from Piececool.
